At a press briefing on Wednesday night, authorities verified that three individuals walking were hit by a TransLink bus at approximately 3:30 p.m.

The child was pronounced dead at the location, whereas his mother was rushed to Lions Gate Hospital in serious condition.

An additional adult, believed to be a acquaintance of the mother, was admitted to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.

The police also stated that the investigation has determined speed was not a contributing factor in the accident.

The bus driver is under police interview, with authorities stating that a criminal offense cannot be dismissed yet.

TransLink stated that a bus was part of an accident at the terminal, and they redirected all additional inquiries to law enforcement officials.

Drone video revealed an articulating transit bus at the intersection of Keith Road and Bay Street, right beside the BC Ferries terminal structure in the Horseshoe Bay community, with a white tent set up adjacent to it.

Witness Vaughn Nelson mentioned that after stepping off the ferry, he observed the bus taking a sudden sharp turn to the right.

“I heard people screaming, and when I looked over, I realized the bus hadn’t stopped in time, so I started walking toward it. That’s when I noticed the woman trapped underneath the bus,” he explained.
