Frederik Andersen’s Eastern Conference Final Game 2 concluded prematurely.

After allowing four goals on 16 shots, the Carolina Hurricanes replaced their goaltender with Pyotr Kochetkov at the start of the third period.

The goaltender from Denmark conceded the initial goal slightly past one minute into the match, followed by allowing two additional goals on the power play before the conclusion of the opening period.

It appeared he settled into the game during the middle stanza, yet his team struggled to provide him with any offensive backing. With 39 seconds left in the second period, he conceded a goal to Sam Bennett — marking Bennett’s second tally of the match.

Heading into this series, Andersen had been strong for the Hurricanes, recording only one save percentage below .900 across nine playoff matches. However, he faced difficulties in Game 1, letting in five goals from 20 shots, which resulted in a save percentage of .750. This was also his save percentage when he left Thursday’s game.

Kochetkov has played in two postseason games, securing one victory and maintaining a .900 save percentage.
