Multiple individuals sustained serious injuries after a vehicle struck a crowd in the southwestern German city of Stuttgart, according to statements made by the fire department on Twitter late Friday.
A police spokesperson stated that the motorist involved has been apprehended.
Although the fire department has characterized the event as accidental, the police have yet to provide any details regarding the circumstances of the crash.
The event took place at the Olgaeck tram stop in the downtown area.
Firefighters, rescue personnel, and law enforcement officers are present at the site, which has been sealed off.
As stated by the police spokesperson, operations at the stop have been halted.
