Caitlin Clark’s first season propelled the Indiana Fever to a impressive finish.
There wasn’t any time to lose. It was the moment to take action.
So during the off-season, they brought in two experienced starters, Natasha Howard and DeWanna Bonner, who have each been mainstays in the WNBA for over ten years.
On Thursday evening, Howard demonstrated her significant importance, clearly illustrating why Indiana took those steps.
Clark managed only 11 points against the Atlanta Dream in their return match, which they previously lost by one point. However, this time around, the Fever emerged victorious due to Howard’s outstanding performance.
The veteran forward finished with 26 points (12-17 FG, 1-2 3FG, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Howard netted 18 of her points during the second half, with 13 coming in the expansive third quarter.
The person from Toledo, Ohio who has returned to the Midwest is proving that they still have what it takes.
The Fever did not hold back during the preseason when it came to their ambitions for championships, and players such as Howard, Bonner, and Sophie Cunningham could be key factors in helping them achieve this goal.
If Howard manages to boost the Fever during Clark’s less stellar performances, it will significantly help the team compete at the highest levels throughout the entire WNBA season.
