On Monday,
police and SWAT
Units were sent to the Knoxville Junior High School located on Charles Street, an institution that has been unused since it shut down in the early 2000s.

The police reportedly discovered Sean Alvarez, Pearson Phillips, and Kai Ortiz at the location and have accused them of felony criminal trespassing charges.
A representative from the Pittsburgh Public Safety department stated
WTAE that
A SWAT team was summoned when the three suspected intruders did not heed the warnings of law enforcement personnel present at the location.
“SWAT was summoned since the three individuals within the premises did not respond to the initial attempts at communication by the arriving officers. Given the circumstances and as a precautionary measure, a SWAT team was deemed necessary,” stated Eliza Durham from PPS.
As stated by law enforcement officials, the trio journeyed to Pittsburgh from Kansas and Illinois with the intention of entering the facility and documenting its inside areas. According to them, investigating and capturing images of derelict buildings is an activity they all enjoy together.
Urban exploration encompasses individuals venturing into deserted structures or sections of cities where the public typically does not have permission or rarely ventures. This can include tunnels, disused subway stations, and utility passageways; however, the majority of such explorations usually take place in extensive, unused edifices like schools, prisons, or shopping centers.
It’s not clear whether the men were photographing for their own albums or capturing material for something else.
The city of Pittsburgh holds ownership of the school and has apparently put up no-trespassing signs at the location.
The police reported finding camera gear within the men’s luggage, as stated by WTAE.
The three individuals are all waiting for their arraignment, and it remains uncertain when they will appear at a preliminary hearing, as stated.
