Tomatoes
have been recalled nationwide due to a potential
salmonella
risk.
Ray & Mascari Inc, announced the
recall
On May 2, out of its four shipments of Vine-Ripened tomatoes, the company received notification from Hanshaw & Capang Farms in Immokalee, Florida, about a possible salmonella contamination. This was followed by an alert from the FDA the following day.

The potentially impacted tomatoes were contained within plastic cartons and featured a label stating “Vine Ripe Tomatoes” alongside the message “Packaged by Ray & Mascari Inc.”
The tomatoes were shipped to stores in New York, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, Tennessee, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
However, this isn’t the sole tomato recall impacting customers.
Williams Farms Repack LLC has issued a recall for their tomatoes supplied to retailers in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia because of potential contamination with salmonella. This recall expands the total number of affected states from both incidents to 14.
Tomatoes were distributed between April 23 and 28, according to the FDA’s notice.
Neither case has seen any reported illnesses.
Individuals who have the problematic tomatoes should discard them, since salmonella may lead to symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, queasiness, and vomiting.
In the meantime, multiple additional food recalls have impacted people in the United States over the past few weeks.

The recall
affected 89 cases of Ancient Grains Hoagie Rolls, 699 cases of Multigrain Sourdough, and 30 cases of Whole Grain Multigrain bread. All products were sold frozen and packaged in corrugated paper cartons.
The recalled bread was available for purchase at retail locations across six states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
