U.S. President Donald Trump has urged Ukraine to promptly consent to talks with Russia in Turkey, indicating that this presents an occasion to determine if a pact can be reached at all.

Based on Trump’s view, Russian leader Vladimir Putin does not desire peace; however, Ukraine should still consent to negotiations.

President Putin of Russia does not wish for a Ceasefire Agreement with Ukraine; instead, he aims to convene on Thursday in Türkiye to discuss potential ways to halt the VIOLENCE.

Ukraine needs to consent to this right away.

Trump stated in his posting on Truth Social.

The US President also stated that during the discussions, Ukraine will have the opportunity to ascertain whether a peaceful resolution with Russia can be achieved.

If this is not the case, European leaders and the US will be informed of all the details, allowing them to move forward appropriately!

underlined the American president.

Moreover, he cast doubts on the likelihood of reaching a peace deal with Putin, whom Trump believes is preoccupied with celebrations.

“I’m beginning to question whether Ukraine will reach an agreement with Putin, who seems more preoccupied with commemorating the victory of World War II—a triumph that would never have happened (!) without significant help from the United States. HOLD THE MEETING IMMEDIATELY!!” Trump implored.

Negotiations in Türkiye

On May 10th, the Coalition of the Willing convened in Kyiv. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Following the conclusion of their talks, the leaders met with U.S. President Donald Trump. Consequently, Ukraine declared its willingness to observe a truce lasting at least thirty days beginning on May 12th. In parallel, European officials cautioned Moscow that additional economic penalties would be enforced should Russia decline this proposal.

On the evening of May 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin conducted a press briefing. During this event, he dismissed the truce suggested by Ukraine, the United States, and the “Coalition of the Willing,” set to begin on May 12.

Rather than that, Putin proposed restarting talks in Istanbul on May 15, continuing from where they had paused since 2022. Reports indicated that Putin intended to address this issue with Erdogan.

Zelenskyy responded that Ukraine is prepared for talks solely following a complete and thorough truce.
