The FDA of the United States
mentioned on Saturday that federal, state, and local authorities are looking into an outbreak associated with products from Fresh & Ready Foods LLC based in San Fernando, California. According to the FDA, ten individuals have fallen sick due to this issue.

as well as Nevada, and necessitating hospitalization.

The agency stated that these items were distributed in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Washington through various outlets such as retail shops and places where food services operate like hospitals, hotels, convenience stores, airports, and onboard airlines.

Voluntarily, Fresh & Ready has initiated a recall for multiple items. These products can be recognized by their “use by” dates spanning from April 22nd through May 19th of this year, sold under the labels Fresh & Ready Foods, City Point Market Fresh Food to Go, and Fresh Take Crave Away.

Government authorities mentioned that they initiated an inquiry into the latest outbreak during the previous year; however, they lacked sufficient proof to pinpoint the origin of the infections. The probe was resumed in April when inspectors from the FDA discovered listeria in specimens taken from Fresh & Ready Foods, which corresponded with the bacterial strain responsible for the outbreak.

The FDA discovered that out of the ten individuals who fell ill from listeriosis, six were admitted to hospitals prior to experiencing symptoms. The investigation revealed that products manufactured by Fresh & Ready Foods had been distributed to at least three healthcare institutions where these patients had received treatment earlier.

The CDC stated that the testing samples from individuals who fell ill were gathered between December 2023 and September 2024.

The symptoms of Listeria infection typically appear within two weeks after consuming tainted food. In mild instances, individuals might experience fever, muscular pain, nausea, fatigue, along with vomiting and diarrhea. More serious manifestations could involve headaches, stiffness in the neck, disorientation, loss of equilibrium, and seizures.
