UPDATE: As of now, Jesperi Kotkaniemen has been taken out of the Hurricanes’ lineup for Game 2 and will likely be substituted with Mark Jankowski.
Refer below for our previous coverage of Kotkaniemi and the Hurricanes’ roster for tonight’s Game 2.
The Carolina Hurricanes will play against the Florida Panthers at home tonight in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final, aiming to even out the series following their decisive loss in the first game.
Considering the Hurricanes’ inadequate scoring in Game 1, it’s understandable that head coach Rod Brind’Amour would consider shaking up the roster for tonight’s match. Although an announcement hasn’t been made yet, it seems likely that former third-overall draft choice Jesperi Kotkaniema might sit out as a healthy scratch today. This morning, during the game-day practice session, Kotkaniema skated with the usual group of players who aren’t playing, whereas his fellow teammates were practicing their lines.
Kotkaniemi hasn’t scored in 11 playoff games this postseason.
