One of the most legendary rock groups ever will be wrapping up their career with a series of farewell performances across North America in 2025. The Who revealed plans for “The Song Is Over” tour, which is scheduled to span from August through September.
It is the end of an era for the legendary English band that formed in 1964, currently featuring Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend. It is,
according to the group
, a “poignantly sweet farewell journey across the US and Canada serving as a magnificent conclusion to their remarkable six-decade career.”
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees were integral parts of both the pop art and mod movements. Their fame surged in America following their performance at Woodstock. Throughout history, The Who has set multiple world records, including those within the U.S., and notably played during the Super Bowl in 2010.

“Each musician’s aspiration in the early ’60s was to achieve major success on the US charts,” Daltrey said.

For the Who, that dream became reality in 1967, transforming our lives entirely. Over the decades, the affection from American audiences has been incredibly inspiring, reminiscent of how I felt upon listening to the initial rock recordings broadcasted through the radio. It was all about musical liberty!
Rock music instilled in us a sense of youthful defiance. Personally, I have always found America to be remarkable. These cultural distinctions significantly influenced me; here, possibilities seemed endless. Yet, concluding such an integral chapter of my life—this extensive journey with The Who—is far from simple. Thank you for your support throughout our career and I eagerly anticipate performing for you all one final time.
Several iconic tracks by this band that continue to resonate with audiences over time encompass “Baba O’Reily,” “I Can See for Miles,” “Love, Reign o’er Me,” “My Generation,” and “Who Are You.”
It remains unclear whether the band will fully disband following the tour or continue with occasional performances akin to Dead & Company. In either case, this tour is not one to skip. Are you planning to attend any of The Who’s concerts?
